Inner Child Healing Support in Maryland
Support for Adults Navigating the Balance of Reparenting the Self
Hi, I’m Kristy Leone (Kris), LCPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC (she/they). I use creative expression as the tool to inspire healing the inner child. Creating art allows you to access feelings and memories that words alone sometimes can’t reach, creating a safe space to explore and process past wounds.
Through guided art therapy prompts, you can reconnect with your younger self, express emotions, and visualize your healing journey here at Labyrinth Art and Wellness. This process helps bring unconscious patterns to light, making them not only easier to understand, but accessible to begin your transformation.
Why heal the ‘inner child’?
Healing the inner child is about going beyond surface-level fixes and addressing the deep roots of how we feel, think, and react. Many of us carry unresolved wounds (such as neglect, fear, shame, or confusion) that started in our early years of childhood. Instead of just covering up pain with temporary “band-aids” or coping skills, you nurture the vulnerable parts of yourself with compassion and care, allowing real transformation and growth to take place. Healing your inner child opens the door to greater self-awareness, resilience, and the ability to live more authentically and fully. or social circle.
Therapy Approaches Rooted in Identity, Empowerment, and Expression
I believe that therapy should honor all parts of who you are: your identity, your culture, your values, your lived experience. That’s why I offer specialized care for folks navigating gender, neurodivergence, anxiety, and other layered experiences that aren’t always understood in traditional spaces. When therapy is affirming and tailored to you, it creates space not just for coping—but for growth, healing, and becoming. Below are a few of the approaches I draw from to support that process.
Parts Work
In session: We connect with different “parts” of yourself: like the inner child, protective parts, and the overprotective parts, and listen to what they have needed all these years.
How it helps: You build an understanding of why you feel constant inner conflict, help you become more decisive in leading with your values, and learning to let go of old narratives that no longer serve you.
Narrative Therapy and Art Therapy
In session: We explore the stories you tell about yourself, identifying limiting beliefs or untold narratives. We create images, drawings, or other art together to express feelings that can be hard to put into words.
How it helps: Through art therapy and narrative work, you can access and process deep emotions and memories, making healing feel safer and more tangible for you.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
In session: You practice mindfulness and acceptance skills, learning to observe your thoughts and emotions without getting overwhelmed. We clarify your values and set small goals that reflect what truly matters to you.
How it helps: You gain psychological flexibility, reduce stress and internal conflict, and learn to live a meaningful life aligned with your authentic identity.
