Practice Policies
Phone Consultations
To begin working together, our first step is to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. Typically this lasts about 15 minutes over the phone. During the consultation, I will ask you basic demographic information (such as name, age, pronouns, and occupation) and inquire about your reasons for seeking therapy. You will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions about the process or my approach.
If we determine that we’re a good fit, we can schedule your initial intake session. You will then receive an invitation to your secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal to complete required paperwork. If you need more time to decide or want a referral to another provider, feel free to contact me by phone (410-205-6050) or email (info@wellness-labyrinth.com).
Individual Adult Therapy Appointments
For adults, intake sessions will be about 60 minutes in length, and will include an evaluation of your background history, presenting symptoms, and goals for therapy treatment. If we determined that your needs can be addressed at our practice, we will schedule future session. If not, I will provide you and your family with appropriate referrals. The standard length for any therapy appointments following the intake appointment is 50 minutes in length. The option to have session that are 80 minutes in length is an option for an additional fee. Please note that if you are late for an appointment, the session will still end at the scheduled time, and no additional time will be given.
Child Therapy Appointments
For children or teens attending therapy, I required two intake sessions: one intake session will be a parent-only intake session, where only the parent(s)/guardian(s) are present, and this will be conducted over telehealth. Following the intake appointment with the parent, I will then conduct a child-only intake session. If we determined that your family’s needs can be addressed at our practice, we will schedule future session. If not, I will provide you and your family with appropriate referrals. The standard length for any therapy appointments following the intake appointment is 50 minutes in length. Please note that if you are late for an appointment, the session will still end at the scheduled time, and no additional time will be given.
Attendance Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Sessions cancelled or missed without 48 hours' notice will be charged in full. Charges will be processed via the credit card on file. To cancel or reschedule your appointment, please email me directly at info@wellness-labyrinth.com or text me at 410-205-6050.
Informed Consent for Therapy
Therapy is a collaborative relationship, and it is important that we have the same expectations and goals before entering the space. I encourage all clients to provide feedback and ask questions throughout treatment. If, at any time, you feel that your therapy needs are not being met, please inform me so that we can assist you in finding a therapist that may be a better fit for you or for your family.
Therapeutic Relationship
Therapy can lead to meaningful and lasting changes, such as enhancing relationships and resolving personal or family concerns. In therapeutic approaches like art therapy, walk-and-talk therapy, and others, emotions may emerge as we explore your experiences. It's important to acknowledge that progress is not always linear, and you may encounter difficult emotions both during our sessions and outside of them.
I encourage you to take time for yourself after each session to reflect and engage with the tools and resources we discuss together. Open communication is essential, so please feel free to ask questions and share any concerns throughout the process to ensure we’re progressing in a way that feels comfortable and effective for you.
For child art therapy, I find it especially valuable to include parents in check-in sessions throughout the process. These moments can be pivotal, providing both you and your child with support and helping ensure that we are all aligned on the goals and progress of the treatment.
It's also important to keep in mind that therapy is a collaborative process. Your feedback, both positive and constructive, plays an essential role in shaping our work together. As we move forward, I encourage you to stay engaged with the process, lean on the resources we discuss, and take care of your well-being outside of sessions.
Confidentiality
All information shared in sessions is kept confidential, except in the following circumstances:
If there is a risk of harm to you or others.
If there is suspicion of abuse involving children, vulnerable adults, or elderly persons.
If required by law, such as a subpoena or court order.
Occasionally, I may consult with other professionals, but no identifying information will be shared without your consent.
Privacy Practices
I value your privacy and use TherapyNotes, a HIPAA-compliant platform, for secure communication, and documentation. All personal information is encrypted and protected according to HIPAA guidelines.
No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimates
As part of the No Surprises Act, and since I am an out-of-network provider, you will receive a form detailing the rules about what a Good Faith Estimate is. This will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay. Fees are subject to change depending on your needs or cancellations, but I will inform you of any changes before they occur. I deeply value transparency as well as my client’s security in regard to finances. This is why my fees for services are listed on my website, and I am sure to disclose relevant fee information to clients prior to scheduling their initial session. I will never adjust your fee without speaking to you and receiving your verbal and signed consent.
