If you find yourself overthinking, overanalyzing, second-guessing, or spiraling through endless "what ifs," know you're not alone. For many people, these aren’t just passing worries, and instead, they can become intrusive, exhausting, and hard to turn off. You might find yourself seeking constant reassurance, avoiding certain situations, or repeating actions just to feel okay.

Life can feel like a roller coaster when you’re when you're stuck in this cycle. One moment you might feel some relief, and the next you're caught in another wave of uncertainty or fear.

As a licensed art therapist, I help children, teens, adults, and parents across Maryland navigate big feelings, overwhelming worries, and the challenges that come with them. Whether it’s OCD, anxiety, identity transitions, or reaching new life milestones, I am here to support clients in finding relief from overthinking, reconnecting with their creativity, and rediscovering who they are beneath all the mental noise.

Meet Kristy Leone: The Outdoor Art Therapist for Overthinkers with OCD and Anxiety in Maryland

Welcome! I’m Kristy Leone, LCPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC (they/she)! You can call me Kristy, Kris, or Tea (like cup of tea!). I’m a nonbinary, neuroaffirming licensed art therapist and mental health walk-and-talk counselor based in Maryland. I specialize in supporting people navigating OCD, anxiety, sleep challenges, and identity exploration.

I came into this field hoping to provide a space that doesn’t feel clinical or cold. Therapy can be creative, collaborative, and even liberating! Whether you’re new to therapy or returning after a break, we’ll move at your pace, or your child’s pace, with space for curiosity, rest, and small, meaningful shifts.

My approach weaves together art therapy, somatic practices, and nature-based healing to support deeper emotional regulation, nervous system grounding, and creative expression. Whether we meet outdoors in Baltimore, in my Towson office, or virtually across Maryland, I offer a calm, affirming space to help you reconnect with who you are beyond the overthinking or compulsive behaviors.

The Communities I Love to Support in Therapy

Below are some of the common struggles I help clients navigate through art therapy, somatic tools, and nature-based healing. Feel free to scroll through, you might see your own experience reflected here:

  • Art therapy and counseling for OCD and anxiety in Maryland.

    Overthinkers

    OCD and Intrusive Thoughts
Overthinkers often wrestle with more than just obvious worries. Many experience hidden OCD tendencies like silent mental rituals, replaying conversations endlessly, or doubting their own memories. They might overanalyze choices to avoid mistakes, seek reassurance within themselves, or get stuck in rigid routines to manage anxiety. These patterns can quietly drain energy and deepen distress, making daily life feel overwhelming. Through creative and compassionate therapy, I help overthinkers gently break free from these loops and reconnect with calm and clarity.

  • Anxious Achievers

    Anxiety and Worry

Anxiety and worry can feel like a unpleasant background music, making it hard to relax or feel present. Anxiety makes you high alert, trying to protect you from something that might go wrong. In our work together, we gently listen to what it is trying to say, whether through talking, walking in nature, making art, or using practices that help you feel grounded. Over time, you can build a new relationship with anxiety, one where you feel more calm, clear, and in control.

    Identity Navigators

    2SLGBTQIA+

Identity navigators often carry the weight of unspoken questions and complex feelings about who they are. They might wrestle with uncertainty, societal pressure, or the fear of not “getting it right.” This journey can include moments of confusion, self-doubt, and the challenge of unlearning old stories about themselves.

These hidden struggles can feel isolating, but they also hold the potential for deep growth and self-discovery. Through creative therapy and compassionate support, I help identity navigators embrace their authentic selves and build confidence in their unique paths.

  • Therapy for artists and performers navigating performance anxiety

    Creative Performers

Artists, Actors, and Musicians with Performance Anxiety or Burnout

As an artist and former performer myself, I deeply understand the joys and challenges of creative life. Many creative performers and overthinkers face challenges like performance anxiety, creative blocks, and burnout. With approaches like art therapy, narrative work, and mindfulness, I help you reconnect to your creativity and build resilience so you can thrive both on stage and in life.

    Nocturnal Explorers

Sleep Issues, Insomnia, Restless Nights, and Dreamwork
Nocturnal explorers often face more than just trouble falling asleep. Many experience restless nights filled with vivid dreams, night awakenings, or a lingering sense of mental alertness that keeps them stuck in limbo between sleep and wakefulness. It’s exhausting to live in battle with racing thoughts, a body that won’t settle, or a dread of bedtime itself. A blend of ERP, ACT, CBT, and Mindfulness can help overcome common sleep disorders like insomnia and nightmares.

Therapy for Children, Teens, and Adults

I offer a blend of art therapy, somatic tools, acceptance-and-commitment therapy (ACT) and nature-based practices designed to help overthinkers find real change and feel confident in their sense of self. Whether you're an adult navigating OCD, anxious thoughts, or identity questions, or want more tools to better support your child, our work will be collaborative, creative, and grounded in who you are!

Acceptance-and-Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Researched approach for OCD and insomnia. It helps clients shift their relationship to thoughts and anxiety by teaching mindfulness, values-based action, and psychological flexibility — key tools for those caught in perfectionism or nighttime spirals.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

The evidence-based treatment of ERP helps people with OCD face their fears without giving into compulsions. Overtime, ERP retrains the brain to feel less anxiety, making lasting change, and reclaim control, proving that healing is absolutely possible for those living with OCD.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Outdoor sessions in Maryland engage the body and the environment in healing. Movement can reduce rumination, regulate the nervous system, and make it easier to open up: especially for clients who feel stuck in traditional talk therapy, overwhelmed by stillness, or struggling to unwind at night.

Art Therapy

A creative approach for to externalize looping thoughts and access insight through imagery, not just language. Creating art in the therapy room can reduce anxiety, support your nervous system regulation, and give form to feelings that are hard to name: especially helpful for OCD, neurodivergent people, and identity work.
